An intimate evening with Carlos Santana review

an intimate evening with Santana review

My wife and I saw an Intimate Evening with Carlos Santana at the House of Blues in the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas. It was a fantastic experience, with a few minor drawbacks (mostly due to the venue).

Once Santana took the stage, we were enraptured by his passionate performance. Throughout the evening, Santana captivated the crowd with a blend of classic and newer material, with each song brimming with his contagious energy and soulful musicianship. It was an unforgettable night of music and a reminder of why Santana is one of the most beloved guitarists in the world.

He's Still Got It - Carlos Santana's Performance Rocked

Carlos Santana’s performance was nothing short of spectacular. He still plays guitar with a level of energy that had the audience on their feet for the entire for major chunks of the show show. His mastery of the guitar was remarkable and his solos were jaw-dropping.

His performance was a great example of how someone can take a traditional style of music, like Latin rock, and make it sound fresh and vibrant. Santana’s show was a great reminder of why he is one of the most beloved musicians of all time.

I was somewhat surprised to see that Santana does not sing on any of his songs, other than the occasional background vocal. Thankfully, he was supported by a pair of incredible singers who took up lead vocal duties. But if you're expecting to see Santana rock the mic, you'll be disappointed.

Venue Atmosphere & Amenities

The atmosphere of the venue was great. The House of Blues in the Mandalay Bay has a bit of a voodoo vibe, mixed with Spanish elements, and it is super clean and well-maintained.

The venue was a small (maybe a 1000 people). However, there is a massive difference in sound quality based on where you sit. We were on the top level and off to the side (aka the cheap seats) and the acoustics were terrible. There was literally a massive PA speaker at ear level, and I saw a couple of people get up and leave after growing tired of plugging their ears. In other parts of the venue, though, it sounded great.

But the vibes definitely made it the perfect place to experience Carlos Santana's music. The lights were dimmed and the stage was well lit, giving the entire place a cozy and romantic vibe.

There were two bars upstairs at the venue, and service was incredibly slow. On top of that, they closed early during the show. So be sure to grab what you need when you can.

One final note on the show - you are not allowed to have a bag bigger than small woman's clutch. Like really small. I had to run back to our hotel room to drop off my wife's bag. Which was nothing more than a handbag.

Engaging crowd

The evening was not only intimate but engaging. Carlos Santana was able to draw in the sold-out crowd with his shredding and classic riffs.

He would take breaks between songs to share stories and experiences throughout his life, which kept the crowd enthralled. Sometimes his conversations took a spiritual turn, riffing on the nature of God, Jesus, and spirituality. Other times he just chatted affably with the audience.

His charisma and energy were contagious, and it was clear that the crowd was having a great time. People were dancing in the aisles by the end, singing along with the classic, and hooting and hollering whenever their favorite song was played.

Memorable Highlights from an Intimate Evening with Santana

The evening with Carlos Santana was nothing short of extraordinary. From start to finish, we were mesmerized by his musical talent and charisma. He basically played all of hits in chronological order, starting with the oldies, and ending with his "newer" hits from the early 2000s.

Here are some of the most memorable moments of the night:

First the closing song, “Smooth”, was an instant crowd-pleaser as everyone in the venue sang along. Second, Carlos’s heartfelt rendition of “Put Your Lights On” was an emotional peak of the night. Third, Carlos’s guitar solos were truly spectacular and showed off his world-class talent.

Santana's Band is Full of World-Class Talent

As Carlos Santana and his band took the stage. The band, titled Santana’s Band, consisted of seven talented musicians (including his wife on drums) and was led by Carlos himself. During the performance, they showcased a unique blend of Latin, jazz, and rock music that was truly captivating.

The band’s energy was infectious, and the crowd was spellbound by their flawless execution. From the opening notes of “Oye Como Va”, to their rousing rendition of “Smooth”, and their graceful take on “Europa”, Santan’s Band truly brought the house down.

All in all, the evening with Carlos Santana was an amazing experience. He and his band were able to bring the room to life with their music, bringing out the best in each other and the audience. His passion for music and for life was palpable throughout the night, and it was clear that he and his band were truly dedicated to putting on a great show. It was a pleasure to be in the presence of such a legendary musician and I look forward to seeing what he comes up with next.

From a Frustrated Producer in a Ragtag Bedroom Studio to Major Placements on TV Earning $1,000s!

My name is Evan, and I've been making music since around 3rd grade. I'm from San Diego, California, but I've lived in Washington, DC for the last 20 years.

After 3 grueling years of grad school, though I had put aside serious attempts at making music. I found myself spending my days doing work that was dreadfully uncreative, with a ton of student student loan debt.

Which made me feel like my favorite parts of myself were withering.

But I didn't know what to do about it.

Being in my early 30s with tons of student loan debt, in a world where there is "no money in music," I felt like my youthful dreams of trying to "make it big" were dead. Like my music would remain unheard in my head and hard drive.

Frustrated by my inability to get my music heard, I started researching solutions.

Instead, I wanted to find a way where I could focus on making the music and let someone else deal with promoting it.

I realized the music licensing was the perfect opportunity for a solo artist like me to get my music heard, without having to do any promotion. I just need to focus on improving what I could control - my songwriting and my production skills.

While I still have a full-time day job, I have created systems that have allowed me to produce dozens of songs a year in my spare time.

My songs have been on Netflix, TV shows like the 90 Day Fiance, an award-winning indie film, and NPR’s “All Thing Considered.” They've also been streamed millions of times.

In addition to being a music producer, I am passionate about teaching people how they can make professional-sounding music and earn money licensing it, all in their spare time.

Thousands of musicians, like yourself, have trusted me to guide their musical journey. My YouTube videos have been watched nearly a million times. And my story has been in Forbes, Side Hustle Nation, and the Side Hustle School.
